Region 3 Specialists

A specialist team is available for every region in every county in North Carolina to help child care providers address challenging behaviors in child care, enhance infant and toddler quality, and improve the quality of school-age programs. These initiatives are managed by the Lead Agency for each region and funded by the Division of Child Development (DCD).

Infant Toddler Quality Enhancement:
The first three years of a child's life involve incredible growth in all areas of a baby's development. Our Infant/Toddler Quality Enhancement project can help you improve the quality of the care you provide for your youngest children.

Promoting Healthy Social Behaviors for Children in
Child Care Centers:
Challenging behaviors can disrupt the classroom. Support is available for child care providers caring for children displaying challenging behaviors.

We work with child care providers to develop strategies that reduce and prevent challenging behaviors in the classroom. School-Age Quality Improvement:
This program is available to help you create school-age classrooms that cater to the interests and learning styles of older children. This program is available for licensed and unlicensed child care programs with school-age children.

We provide on-site technical assistance and training on topics including Basic School-Age Care (BSAC), School Age Care Environment Rating Scale (SACERS), playground safety, program start-up, and best practices for school-age programs.
